Principal Message

I am honored to be the principal at Head O’Meadow Elementary School. Head O’Meadow is a wonderful place to be!

This is my 22nd year in education. Prior to being at Head O’Meadow I taught third, first, sixth and fifth grade (in that order). For the past five years I was the assistant principal at Sandy Hook School.

I love being with students in classrooms, at recess and lunch. This is the best way to learn about them and to build connections with students.

In my free time I love spending time with my wife and two children. I also enjoy running, reading and participating in obstacle course races like Tough Mudder. I am always trying to learn new things.

We have an amazing group of students, families and staff at Head O’Meadow. Everyone works together for the students. Our goal is for children to develop a love of learning and to learn how to work together with everyone around them.

Being safe, responsible and kind is at the core of everything we do. Small acts of kindness can make everyone’s day brighter.

I am excited to continue this learning journey with our students, staff and families!

Assistant Principal

Dear Head O’Meadow Families,

I am so excited to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal of Head O’Meadow Elementary School.  It is an honor to be a part of this incredible community of educators, students, and families.

I have been an elementary educator for 28 years.  Much of my career has been spent at Sandy Hook School, first as a Special Education Teacher and most recently as the Lead Teacher for the past seven years.  These roles have provided me with valuable experiences and perspectives that I look forward to bringing to my role at Head O’Meadow.

On a personal note, my husband and I have two daughters.  Our oldest is beginning her sophomore year of college and our youngest will be a junior in high school.  My experiences as a parent have deeply influenced my career, guiding me to lead through a lens focused on what is truly best for children.

At the heart of everything I do is my deep belief in the power of relationships.  I am passionate about creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment where every child feels seen, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

I look forward to partnering with Mr. Napolitano, our amazing teachers and staff, and our HOM families.  I can’t wait to get to know you and your children as we begin this exciting journey together!

Sincerely,

Kelly MacLaren

Assistant Principal, Head O’Meadow
