Preschool Program

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

Thank you for your interest in the Newtown Preschool Program. Eligibility and Application Process

Step 1: Complete the Questionnaire

If you'd like your child to participate as a Play Partner, please complete the Play Partner Questionnaire. The deadline to submit the questionnaire is February 15, 2025.

Step 2: Attend the Play and Meet the Teacher Activity

  • After you submit your questionnaire, our preschool team will contact you.
  • You'll be invited to a Play and Meet the Teacher activity on the afternoon of Friday, March 14, 2025, at Reed Intermediate School.
  • A staff member will email you with details prior to the session.
  • Please note: Only one adult may accompany the child to this activity.

Step 3: Receive Notification and Confirmation

  • You will be notified of your child’s Play Partner status via email by April 4, 2025.
  • If your child is accepted, parent confirmation is due by April 25, 2025.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Age: Your child must be three years old on or by September 1, 2025. We still encourage you to complete the questionnaire if your child turns three shortly after this date.
  • Kindergarten Eligibility: Children who are five years old on or by September 1, 2025 are eligible for kindergarten and are not eligible to be Play Partners.
  • Toilet Training: Your child must be toilet trained before being admitted to the program.

You can apply to be a Play Partner at any time, as we accept applications year-round.

Developmental Concerns

If you have questions or concerns about your child's development, it may be more appropriate to discuss those concerns directly rather than applying for the Play Partner program. For more information or to consider an evaluation, please feel free to call Ms. Laura Pellerito, School Psychologist, at (203) 426-7683.
