Health Entrance Requirements

PHYSICAL EXAMS AND IMMUNIZATIONS 

Physical examinations are required prior to entry into pre-school (each year), prior to kindergarten, and in grade 6 and grade 9. Students transferring from outside the state of CT are required to have a physical exam done within one calendar year of registration in Newtown Schools.

All students must comply with the State of CT immunization requirements before entry into school.

TB risk assessment This is the tool Newtown Schools uses to determine if a student should have a TB test prior to entry into school. Students who are entering kindergarten or are new entrants are assessed using this information. Physician's verification of a tuberculin test (Mantoux) given in the USA, including the date given and the results of the test are required if the assessment indicates testing is necessary.

Responsibility for compliance with the state physical examination and immunization requirements and Board of Education policy lies with the parents.
